Long Mynd

Saturday, March 14, 2020

To purchase a ticket for this trip, please come along to one of our designated sign-up sessions in the Guild of Students. (See our newsletter)

This term we are heading to Long Mynd, a first for the Wayfarers. The trip will be a day walk but we will be going on the minibus, so if you want to come, make sure to come along to a sign-up.

Long Mynd is a heath and moorland plateau 500m above sea level. The plateau forms part of the Shropshire Hills and it is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The name Long Mynd means long mountain and it is indeed very long, at 7 miles. Most of it is owned by the National Trust.

 See you there!

What to bring:

  • Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes (that you don't mind getting muddy)
  • Lightweight trousers (definitely not jeans!)
  • Jumper and/or other layers
  • Waterproof coat and trousers
  • Packed lunch and water
  • Cash for emergencies
  • A rucksack to carry it all in
