Lake District (Camping)

Date:

Friday, May 26, 2017 to Monday, May 29, 2017

Description

To purchase a ticket for this trip, please come along to one of our designated sign-up sessions in the Guild of Students. (See our newsletter)

The most popular destination in England for hikers, the Lake District is an area of outstanding natural beauty that puts the North West on the map. Once signed up for the trip, you will receive an email before the day with more information about meeting times, etc.

The district boasts some of the best countryside, hills and -- of course -- lakes that the United Kingdom has to offer. This a must-go-on trip for anyone who wants to call themselves a Wayfarer!

This is a bank-holiday camping trip! We'll be staying in tents Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at Chapel House Campsite. We will also be having a BBQ Saturday and Sunday night (weather permitting) -- if this is unable to happen we'll eat at a local pub instead. As this is a longer trip we may (subject to interest) do something slightly different on the last day, such as, sailing or kayaking.

Please remember to bring all the essentials:

  • Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes (that you don't mind getting muddy)
  • Lightweight trousers (definitely not jeans!)
  • Jumper and/or other layers
  • Waterproof coat and trousers
  • Packed lunch and water for both days of walking
  • Cash for emergencies
  • Rucksack to carry it all in
  • Extra clothes for both days of walking
  • Sleeping bag and roll mat
  • Wash kit, etc.
