Last year we went to Dartmoor for the first time in a good long while -- and it was brilliant, so we're going back again!

The Devon-based National Park is famous for its vast moorland and misty landscapes. It provided inspiration for the spooky Sherlock Holmes story The Hounds of the Baskervilles. Whilst we may not encounter any hounds, it's sure to be an interesting experience. For whilst the south is lapse in its mountains, the appeal lies in the famous tors, the river valleys, and forests.

Attendance is elementary, my dear Wayfarers.

What to bring:

  • Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes (that you don't mind getting muddy)
  • Lightweight trousers (definitely not jeans!)
  • Jumper and/or other layers
  • Waterproof coat and trousers
  • Packed lunch and water for both days of walking
  • Cash for emergencies
  • Rucksack to carry it all in
  • Extra clothes for both days of walking
  • Sleeping bag and roll mat
  • Wash kit, etc.
