The Wrekin

Sign-up here.

A favourite stomping ground for the Wayfarers, The Wrekin is the destination for our first 'official' walk of the term! Once signed up for the trip, you will receive an email before the day with more information about meeting times, etc.

The Wrekin is a lone Shropshire hill of 1300ft, upon which sits the Iron Age hill fort Uriconio. Also on the summit sits an equivalently (but not equally) interesting modern sight: the Wrekin transmitting station.

We hope to see all Wayfarers old and new on the day.

What to bring:

  • Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes (that you don't mind getting muddy)
  • Lightweight trousers (definitely not jeans!)
  • Jumper and/or other layers
  • Waterproof coat and trousers
  • Packed lunch and water
  • Cash for emergencies
  • Rucksack to carry it all in
